It started with a red panda named Freddie. I was in college and decided to make a themed stationary set with an artist red panda who loved the color purple. He quickly became dear to me and I couldn’t stop drawing him.
People around me couldn’t stop referring to him as a raccoon - obviously this meant that after a year of being tired of making corrections I had to make him a raccoon friend (and obviously they were boyfriends). And thus Randall was born. 
Over the years several characters would be added to the crew - though it would remain an amorphous, vague idea - until 2025. 
The core concept of the animal characters had always been community, care and following the beat of your own drum, no matter how weird the world may perceive it. Believe in yourself, love yourself, and who cares if anyone else agrees.
